Game diary 11.03.2014

Today I played Faint, a game that has the poetic instructions; “arrows to move, let go to listen.” You play a little character wandering around a desolate landscape in a horrible howling wind. If you stop walking, you can listen to music is nearby – stand in the right spot and the thing you are listening for will appear. There are also monsters around that will instantly kill you if you mediate in the wrong spot.

The game is a little opaque and the story desperate to be ‘arty’ and shocking. I created a map to help myself get around – without it’s atmospheric vignette and sparse tufts of grass it looks simple, however getting around without the map was very tricky, so if you’re lost feel free to borrow it.
