Game Diary 13.03.2014

13 03 2014

I played a Threes knock off called 2048. It’s not exactly the same, the graphics are less fancy and the moves cause everything to go to it’s extreme rather than just one place. This makes it easier to play. The new tiles spawn in random paces rather than on the edges of the boards too.

This part I found particularly cheeky:

“NOTE: This site is the official version of 2048. You can play it on your phone via All other apps or sites are derivatives or fakes, and should be used with caution.”

2048 claims a different threes knock off as it’s inspiration (that game has more copying of the art and even sells itself as being like Threes but free).

Last night I played the first mission of The Network. This game is for BBC TV programme Sherlock and has videos of the characters in it, which is nice. Sherlock came across as a bit of a prick, insulting you because you are homeless – which is a bit out of character (he is a prick normally, but in more of a ‘puncturing your ego’ kind of way, rather than this ‘kick you when you’re down’ attitude).

The puzzles are nicely skinned mini-games. ‘Take the tube’ is a pipes puzzle and there is a hidden object puzzle too. There is some kind of meta game involving finding hidden locations on the map you navigate around as well as managing money which you gain by exploring and succeeding at your missions. I’ll have to play it more to see if there is an over arching mystery to solve.
